Head Tide Store and barn
Built in 1884 and 1881, respectively, the Head Tide Store (originally the J.A. Jewett General Store) and barn (originally the J.A. Jewett stable) served as the center of community life and commerce in Head Tide for generations. Now owned by Historic Alna as the result of the generous bequest of Richard Plunkett, (the Wizard of Odds & Ends), Richard hoped to preserve the property for future generations as both a retail and community space, consistent with its historic uses.
We’re looking for volunteers to help us to realize Richard’s vision. Please reach out to us at historicalna@gmail.com if you’d like to be part of the Head Tide Store Steering Group, and check out our “Volunteer” page for other opportunities to make a difference!
